How to not go crazy during a Lockdown

We all know about the pandemic COVID-19. Many countries are in complete lockdown and I live in one of those countries.

My life has become pathetic after the lockdown started. It’s sooooo boring especially for me. I haven’t stepped outside my door since my school closed that is two weeks ago. I haven’t seen my friends in a week. If you are also stuck inside your house (like me), you will probably understand my condition.

To stop myself from going crazy, I came up with these ideas-

  • Exercise regularly
  • Do your favourite hobbies like drawing etc.
  • Try to do something new while at home
  • Give your house a makeover
  • Find the bookworm in you
  • Talk to your family and friends
  • Give yourself some time and love

So these are some of ideas for keeping yourself busy and happy during a lockdown. Hope you find these ideas useful. Let’s hope for this virus to leave our lives alone. Stay safe and healthy.

My favourite books📖

Books are a uniquely portable magic.” – Stephen King undefined

“Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere.” Reading books is a fun hobby of many. I too am one of those people. All of us prefer different genres. No two people can thoroughly agree on the same book but I am pretty sure it would mind you if you checked out my favourite books.

I love many of the classics. I love Harry Potter, I love Percy Jackson. But I also LOVE this book called ‘Girl of Ink and Stars’. I am bonkers about this book. I am pretty sure you know about Harry potter and Percy Jackson but let me tell you about Girl of Ink and Stars’. The book is about a cartographer’s daughter who lives on an island and mysterious events were going on. Then her best friend disappears. When then follows her map and also her heart to find out the answers. But little did she know that there was a demon stirring from its sleep. This book is way more sophisticated than you think it is. It’s not only about fantasy but about friendship. Hats off Kiran Millwood Hargrave for such an awesome book.

I am 11 years old and my friends think I am a fool to be reading but little do they that they are missing out on so many interesting stories. But I think that age is no barrier. These books were some of the best books I have ever read in my 11 years of life. So I would conclude this blog by quoting Frederick Douglass “Once you learn to read, you are forever free”.

HOLIDAY TIME!!!!…

Who doesn’t like going on vacation? Well, at least I love going on vacation. Every vacation we go somewhere special and it doesn’t have to be a luxury resort, our family’s homes are just fine too. This time, in our summer vacation, we went someplace beautiful after visiting our relatives in Kerala. It is an exquisite island located in the Arabian sea, named Cintacor Island. Read on to know how lovely our holiday was……
DAY 1
10.05.2019

After packing everything we needed for the trip, we left for Davangare by 3 pm. Our plan was to spend the anight in Davangare and leave for Karwar the very next morning, and from Karwar, we would go to Cintacor Island by boat. Our seating arrangements in the car were-
• My dad was driving the car so he has to sit in the driver’s seat
• My brother sat beside the driver’s seat
• I sat on the middle seat
• My amma sat on the back seat
After some time, my brother felt nauseous and exchanged his seat with my mother’s so that he could lie down in the back seat like me in the middle seat. I was sleeping most of the time. I woke up only to eat some snacks. My parents were deciding where to spend the night and then they found Hotel Shoven through Goibibo. By 8 pm we reached Davangare and had the famous Davangare butter dosa from a famous restaurant. We didn’t like it much. We then went to the Hotel Shoven. When we entered the hotel, we saw a few policemen asking a few questions to whom I think is the manager of the hotel. After a few minutes, the policemen left and a person showed us our room. The room was not that bad nor that good but we were there just for the night so it’s fine. But the bed was too small for us and we booked a non-ac room thinking that it wouldn’t be soo hot but it was extremely hot but we couldn’t do anything at that time so we slept somehow. Hotel Shoven

                                        Day 2
                          11.05.2019

We woke up at about 6 am the next morning. We dressed up and left for Karwar. I slept in the car until we stopped for breakfast in Kamath Upachar. I ordered a plate poori like usual, my mom and my brother ordered dosas for them and my father had a plate of vada and dosa. After eating one dosa my brother ordered one more. After eating we left and I went back to sleeping again. I woke up by 11:45 am as we were about to reach the port. I felt very nauseous and vomited a bit. Our guide came to us to show us where we have to park our car and then he called a taxi to take us to the port. We came to the port and sat inside the boat. Every boat has a name and the boat we were on was named VICTOR. We were on the boat by 12:10 pm but there was one more family to come so we waited and waited and waited. By the time the other family came, it was 1:05 pm. Soon we left for Cintacor Island. We were all so excited. The sea was becoming rough, the boat was tilting to one side at few points. The boat was jumping up down, it was so scary but wonderful. Then soon I look around and realize we took a U-turn and we were going back to Karwar. I was shocked. Then the boat driver comes and says that the sea is too rough so we cannot go to the island now. We reach back to Karwar and the guide comes to us and says that we can’t go now because of the sea condition so I have booked a hotel for you so that you can spend the noon in the hotel and if the sea’s condition is nice we can go the island. I became very sad when he said this and almost started crying. But there was nothing we could do so we went to the hotel and kept our bags and went to a nearby restaurant to eat lunch. The lunch was delicious. Then we came back to the hotel and rested for a bit and by 4:15 pm we called our guide to ask if we can go the island today. He said that the sea is too rough so we cant go. I became even sadder when he said this and started weeping but my parents told that we will go to the beach now so I became a little happy. We got ready and went to the beach. The beach eas so near we went walking. It was so sunny and we forgot to take our caps from our hotel room so my mom and I went back to get it. When we were in the room my dad called and asked us if we wanted to go to the warship museum. We didn’t want to so while my brother and my dad were in the museum we stayed in the room. About half an hour later we left for the beach as the boys were done seeing the mueseum. We went to the beach and e enjoyed a lot My dad and brother went on the speed boat. We enjoyed the sunset in the beach andwent back to the room. I bathed first, then my brother , then my mom and then my father. My dad, my brther and I went to a local lemonade shop and my dad drank what they call an electric lemonade and my brother drank a normal lemonade. Then we went to another shop and I bought a brownie with ice cream, my brother bought a blue hawaian mocktail and my father bought a pav bhaji. We bought the brownie and pav bhaji home to share it with my mom so we had that and by 8:30 pm we went to eat dinner from the same place we had lunch. Again it was delicious. We went back to the room and slept nicely in the AC room and my brother slept on the huge sofa. We all slept comfortably.

                                  DAY-3
                               12.05.2019

We woke at about 7 am as our boat would leave at 8am. We dressed up and went down for breakfast in a restaurant connected to our hotel. As usual, I ordered poori for myself and as there was nothing else already cooked, my brother and mother had poori too. We ordered dosa for my father as he was doing some work and came to the restaurant late. After eating we went and packed our things and brought our luggage down. Our guide was waiting for us down so we went with him as he had already called the cab. We kept our luggage in the car and left for the port.
We reached the port and sat in the boat. There was another on the boat too. But again, the other family was late. The boat left by 8:20 pm. I felt nauseous in the boat and puked a bit in a cover too. We stopped very close to the island. I became scared. Then I noticed that there was a speed boat nearing us. Then the driver told that big boats can’t go there so you have to go by this speed boat.
Only six people could get on that boat including the 2 drivers. The unpunctual family went first then the other family but the other family were only 3 people so my mom went with them. Then my dad, my brother and I went on the last trip. The heavy luggage compensated the 4th person.
Then a we sat on a buggy and went to the reception.

When we reached the reception, they gave us a cold wet towel to wipe our face and a coconut sagu drink. The towel was so nice and cool but I didn’t like the drink so I gave it to my mom. Then after some time they took us to our room/cabin on the buggy. Our cabin’s name was ‘HOKI’.

As soon as we got our luggage, I went to take a bath. And then I put a very comfy bathrobe kept there.

After dressing up, we went for an orientation. They showed us the rides and activities in the island. After the orientation was over, my mom approached the man who did the orientation and asked him about his studies and where he works etc. when she told him that she works in Christ university he was shocked. He said that he knows many people from Christ. They started talking about my mom students which are his friends. Then at last we went as my dad called us to go on a banana boat ride before it closes. So, we went and changed our dress and went for the ride.
We were enjoying nicely when SPLASH!!!!!!!! We all toppled of the boat faraway from each other. The driver had said us to lean back if we fall down, so I did that and I was drifting away because of the lifejacket. Soon I started crying, I mean what else would I do when I’m LOST IN THE SEA????!! My mother got rescued first. I could hear my mother, father and brother trying to console me. but I didn’t stop as I was so scared. But soon one of the driver’s came and held me but still I didn’t stop crying. Then the driver left me so that he could reach the others. Then somehow, I reached the banana boat and held its rope to climb on it and I did it, I was so relieved. Soon my brother and father also got onto the boat and we left. I was still crying in the boat.
When we reached ashore my mom told me that my dad had asked for the topple. Then we saw Amit [orientation guy] approaching us. He asked us how the ride was and none of us could answer it. My legs were burning so I quickly went to the shade while my mom, dad and brother were seeing sea cucumbers etc. while standing in the shade I saw a dolphin in the sea. I was so happy but I was the only one who saw so near even though I called the others at the moment itself. Soon the buggy came and we left for our room. Before that we went to the restaurant and ordered our food and went back to the room so that we could bathe. We bathed and went for lunch. Today was a very special day, it was Mother’s Day so my brother and I had made card without anyone knowing. While we were waiting for lunch at the restaurant, my brother and I gave the card to our mom. She was very happy. My mom had ordered chicken biriyani, my dad ordered herb fish, my brother, white sauce pasta and I had ordered fish and chips. My mom’s came first, then my brother, then my father and still my food didn’t come so we asked the waiter and he had made a mistake so went. My brother gave me some of his food. When my food came, I gave him some too. I loved the food. It was delicious.
